iKnowtion Cites Leveraging the Power of Customer Information as Main Theme of “Marketing Analytics Xchange 2008” Keynote speaker Dr. Thomas H. Davenport to provide best practices for transforming organizations into analytic competitors
BURLINGTON, Mass. – September 8, 2008 – iKnowtion, a marketing and analytics consulting firm that works with Fortune 1000 companies to improve marketing effectiveness, today announced additional details on the theme of its first annual event, “Marketing Analytics Xchange” (MAX08). The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Thomas H. Davenport, President’s Distinguished Professor of Information Technology & Management at Babson College and the co-author of Competing on Analytics: The New Science of Winning. Dr. Davenport’s speech will kick-off the event and provide insights to executives wanting to utilize the power of analytics to gain competitive advantage.
“While the Unites States is ahead of the rest of the world in terms of how to obtain, interpret and act on information and trends revealed in customer data, there are many ways to improve this process,” said Dr. Davenport. “Many industries, especially retail and financial services, have successfully leveraged the power of customer information, but many more industries, notably hospitality, automotive, airline and pharmaceutical, will need to establish an effective system for managing customer information in order to predict trends and improve segmentation.”
In his presentation, Dr. Davenport will advocate the importance of collecting information that directly contributes to achieving organizational objectives. Years of research reveals that companies understand the importance of collecting customer information; the problem lies in leveraging the information to generate business results that have a positive impact the bottom line.
In addition to keynoting MAX08, Dr. Davenport will moderate the last panel of the day entitled “How to Become an Analytic Competitor: A View from the Top,” which will feature representatives from General Motors, Liberty Mutual and UPromise. The panel will supplement Dr. Davenport’s keynote address by providing real-life examples of the challenges organizations face in trying to position analytic decision making as a more critical discipline within their company as well as approaches that companies have used to ensure future success.
Additional topics to be covered during this panel will include: • Tips and best practices for establishing strategic analytic initiatives; • Proving the business value of using analytics ; • Overcoming common challenges when implementing analytic initiatives; and • Changing organizational structure and recruiting the right expertise to ensure organizational success and bottom line business impact.
